SEWING MINISTRY

Whether you sew, knit, quilt, or crochet, the sewing ministry is a creative way of fellowshipping and reaching out to the community. This ministry can benefit a variety of individuals or groups like children’s homes, nursing homes, elderly, homebound, hospital patients, cancer and terminally ill patients as well as homeless shelters, crisis centers and international missions.
Members might sew quilts, pillows, caps, shawls, hats, mittens, cloth bags (for food distribution), toys or scarves.
The Sewing ministry follows the vision of Riverview Calvary Chapel by helping to win, disciple and send. Each item will have a scripture sewn in, and each person who will receive the gift will be prayed for. Every gathering will be filled with prayer and used to disciple and grow the people who attend. Notes with scripture can also be included with the gifts.
Participants may not necessarily need to possess skills in sewing. For instance, in quilt ministries, volunteers are needed to cut fabric, tie knots, and iron. There is also a need for collection of supplies through donations from church members or craft stores.
